I hate being salesy...

Posted by Rick Graham on

I am both the creator of Revelations and the guy responsible for making Revelations: Skirmish. As a small business owner I am required to wear a looooot of different hats simultaneously. It's just part of the journey.

While there are many aspects that I love, such as writing new lore or showing off a model for the first time, there are also parts I really don't enjoy. The prime example is in marketing/ selling products. I have zero issue going through all of the steps in creating a new product listing and everything that is required there, but when it comes to actually advertising or marketing said product...I generally am less inclined.

Why is that? Well...primarily because I have this thing fixated in my mind that I never want to come off as salesy. Just thinking about it makes me internally cringe! I know that I need to sell product. I know that you know that I need to sell product. I know that you know I know you know...anyway...we're all adults, we understand that a business needs money coming in to stay alive.

Right now our economy in the U.S. is super close to being in a recession. Granted, you could just alter the definition of what a "recession" is, but that would be super spooky and seem like moving goal posts and nobody would ever do that.

I have been very appreciative that our community has been very patient with me as I experiment with improved photography, better painted models, branding changes, site restructuring, product delays, product rushes, memes, and more over the past few years. As I mentioned in my super long blog post recently, I am very committed to seeing Revelations establish itself in the market for the long-term. There isn't anything else I would rather be doing.

In my attempt to grow and improve as a business owner there may be times I get stuff wrong. Just know that my intention is to treat all of you how I would want to be treated as a customer/ player. Not all game studios get that right, and sometimes it feels like you are just a wallet they can pull money out of whenever they want it. That isn't at all how I see this community.

It is a very serious matter to me every time someone decides to purchase one of the products we offer. I know how hard it is to balance everything in life and still find a way to enjoy your hobbies. I don't want to be all gushy, but thank you for the support that you give whether that is sharing our posts, buying new models, reading our lore, or lurking in the shadows of our communities. Revelations would just be a hobby without your support.

Here's to the future!
