The Mercury was designed to take much of the success of the Mars program and shrink it. This was to have a solid performing tank platform that could operate in tighter confines and still be able to deliver high damage. It often is deployed in locales that have already been secured by the RAF but it finds a lot more use with the Keepers of Peace forces. Its armor is often resilient to anything insurrectionists have at their disposal, and its dozer aids in clearing most road obstacles for friendly units. One of the biggest distinctions between the Mercury and the Mars is that smoke canisters have been placed into the side mounted launcher.
